Journey at Sunflower Preschool

My First Few Days

In June 2019 I took my first step in exploring my passion, being an ECE, by volunteering at Sunflower Kindergarten for 4 days. I was attached to the Kindergarten 1, children where I observed and assisted educators for the first two days. I familiarised myself with the routines, then assisted with shower time, outdoor play, diapering, and engaged children in learning corners. On day 4 I conducted my own sing-a-long and story reading. I learned a lot about the curriculum of a preschool and its setting during this short time span.

My Class

In 2020 I became administered as a relief teacher for Play Group (PG), Nursery 1, and Kindergarten 1. I lead storytelling, facilitate outdoor play, set up learning corners, and conduct all routine care procedures with smooth transition.

Children's Day 2020

Here is a backdrop I decorated for Children’s Day photoshoot and activities I planned and conducted for them during the celebration. I was tasked to help in planning the menu and decorations, and assisting in the implementation of games for the children in the Play Group . I created drafts to propose my ideas, consulted with the principal, stayed back after the centre was empty to put up the decorations, and prepared the equipment needed. My indoor balloon floorball activity was well received by the children, they devoured the assortment of food, and were excited upon seeing the decoration. Their parents complimented the setup as well and the centre's Principal praised me for my success.
